Tuesday We went over the drama terms and devices practice from yesterday at the beginning of the class. For the remainder of the block, time was available to work on the transformation of a text from Taming of the Shrew. The criteria for the assignment are below; the assignment is explained in Monday's post. Monday Still too many people absent to complete the editing the script activity. We watched the end of The Taming of the Shrew. I gave out a drama terms and devices definition sheet and a practice matching quiz. Following that, I introduced the assignment below which is due on Thursday, December 17. Multimodal* task: Select a speech from the play from the list provided, and analyze it (okay to look this up online, but include sources in assignment) with respect to the main attitudes, values and beliefs contained in the speech. Transform the speech in some way to make it more accessible to a modern audience. For example, transform it into a video, a PowerPoint, a child

Friday We focussed on Petruchio's soliloquy after the wedding, where he vows to tame Kate. Once the activities related to the speech were concluded, we viewed more of the film version of the play. Thursday Once the excitement of the treed bear subsided, we got down to looking at two of the edited versions of the meeting of Kate and Petruchio. Both provided their own unique insights into the scene and were suitably comedic. Well done. For the remainder of the class we viewed Taming of the Shrew. With about 15 minutes remaining of class time, we broke into groups and played a game to review drama terms and devices. Hope the bear is okay! Reminder: Tomorrow is the last day to write the poetry quiz from November 20th. Tomorrow is also the last day to present late infographic assignments (which were due December 2) at lunch time.
