I was supposed to be away today, but my appointment was cancelled at the last minute! Here are the notes that I had left for the TOC
· Read the text "Hello Monster" and complete the written piece about the text. This work MUST be in OneNote by the end of today's class.
NB some of the photocopies have more than just the "Hello Monster" text. Ask students to be sure they read the correct text!
· Go to library to pick up the novel they want to read. The list is below. It is also in OneNote.

Quick Draw!
1. Debate! Do people control their own future?
Arguing for the question (ie. people DO control their own future): BB, DL, DS, EC, ER, JD
Arguing against the question (ie. people DO NOT control their own future): MM-F, RFo, RFu, RP, ZH, ML
- get together with your team and prepare your case - you have 3 minutes to speak - 1 point for each different person in your group who speaks - plus 1 point for each point you make
- while one team speaks, the opposition should prepare rebuttal points and questions - 1 point for each rebuttal point
- each team will have time for a 2 minute rebuttal
- at the end, you team can score points using the coloured cards - 1 point per card

1. Attendance + which pronoun do you prefer?
2. Research which novel you want to read.
3. Ice breaker - on your recipe card write your "nom de plume": your mother's maiden name (or grandmother's) + the name of your first pet - mine would be Ferguson Button.
4. Curriculum areas you prefer.
5. Time to refine your chosen questions using Why? What if? and How?
If we had to leave technology behind, could we?
