Thursday
I was away today, and I had promised that the instructions for the class would be on the blog and of course I forgot to post them!
A bit late, but here they are:

  1.  Students should read the poem Mushrooms by Sylvia Plath (some may have read it before, but that’s okay). On their copy of the poem, students should write down all the mental pictures, emotions, senses, words (their own words and words from the poem) that come to mind when they think of ‘mushrooms’.
  2.  Next, students should read the short story “Come into my cellar” – On their copy of the poem, students should compare and contrast the poem with the story. COMPARE: What is the similarity between the alien presence in the poem and the story? CONTRAST: How might the “aliens” in the poem and the aliens in the story be completely different things.
Wednesday
During today's shortened class you should work on completing the annotation of The Passengers short story and begin work on your alien profile.
