Tuesday
1.     Read “classic” novel for first 10 minutes.
2.     Complete reading the essay about personal narrative essays. Continue recording on the blank rubric (handed-out last week) what are some of the ideas/content for a personal narrative essay. Paraphrase and/or use quotes. For example: uses 1st person, contains “a little parcel of truth”(p. 6). Hand-in the rubric with student name on it at the end of the class. Work in pairs or threes to gather ideas, but each student should hand in a rubric.
3.     Read the second of the two sample personal narrative essays that I gave out yesterday. Label this one, the one that begins, “The gruff voice…” as example “B”. Use the yellow sheet from Monday called Grade 12 PNE – Evidence of Quality and once again in pairs assess how well you think the writer of the second example has done with the criteria on the sheet: circle “very much,” “somewhat,” or “not at all.”
4.     Day 1 of Writer’s Bootcamp! In preparation for the composition section of the final exam, try writing 250 words on the following prompt: Challenging circumstances lead to positive actions. FIRST, read this blog post: http://ajjuliani.com/improve-writing-10-quick-lessons/

5.     For your 250 words today, you are going to try to write a personal narrative type piece, not an essay or a short story. Draw on you your own experiences, or the experiences of others. Think about the two examples that you looked at and think about the Evidence of Quality criteria items. You can disagree with the prompt. Write on lined paper. Hand-in at the end of class. This is practice! I will read it, but I will not grade it.
